Positive Thinking Therapy provides clinical hypnotherapy and psychotherapeutic techniques intended to support people who wish to explore thoughts, emotional responses, habits and learned patterns and develop more constructive ways of responding.
Hypnosis is generally understood as a focused state of attention and absorption in which therapeutic suggestions and imagery may be used. It is not sleep, unconsciousness or loss of control. Participation is voluntary. A person ordinarily remains aware, can communicate and can choose whether to accept a suggestion or stop an exercise.
Scope of the service
Brad holds a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis with Psychotherapy from The Essex Institute of Clinical Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. Unless separately stated and supported by current registration, Brad does not present himself as a medical practitioner, psychiatrist or psychologist.
Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, medication, psychological treatment, psychiatric care or emergency mental-health support. Do not discontinue or alter prescribed medication or another treatment without consulting the appropriately qualified practitioner responsible for that care.
Positive Thinking Therapy will work within the practitioner’s training and scope. Where a concern appears unsuitable for hypnotherapy, requires diagnosis or specialist care, or presents a risk outside that scope, you may be asked to consult your doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist or another appropriately qualified professional before sessions begin or continue.
Suitability
Hypnotherapy may not be appropriate for every person or every concern. Relevant factors may include your current symptoms, health history, medications, capacity to consent, other treatment, risk factors and the nature of the outcome you are seeking.
Tell Brad about relevant diagnoses, treatment, medication and changes in your mental or physical health. This information helps determine whether the proposed approach is appropriate and whether collaboration or referral should be considered.
The free 20-minute consultation provides an opportunity to discuss your goals and ask questions, but it is not a diagnosis, crisis assessment or guarantee of suitability.
Evidence and outcomes
Hypnosis is used in some clinical and psychotherapeutic contexts, often as an adjunct to other approaches. The quality and strength of evidence varies according to the condition, method and outcome being studied.
Individual responses vary. No particular outcome, improvement, cure, timeframe or permanent result is promised. Testimonials or examples, if published, describe individual experiences and should not be treated as typical or guaranteed results.
Positive Thinking Therapy does not claim to cure cancer, terminal illness, psychosis or any other medical or psychiatric condition.
Memory and hypnosis
Hypnosis should not be treated as a reliable method of verifying whether a memory is historically accurate. Memory can be incomplete, reconstructed or influenced by suggestion, both inside and outside hypnosis. Positive Thinking Therapy does not use hypnosis to certify the truth of a remembered event or provide forensic conclusions.
If serious trauma, abuse, legal proceedings or disputed memories are involved, discuss appropriate specialist support before proceeding.
Personal responsibility and informed consent
You are encouraged to ask questions about the proposed approach, possible alternatives and any concerns before consenting. You may decline a technique or withdraw consent at any time.
You remain responsible for personal decisions and actions outside sessions. Do not listen to hypnosis recordings while driving, operating machinery, supervising a hazardous activity or in any situation requiring alert attention.
Crisis and emergency support
Positive Thinking Therapy is not an emergency, suicide-intervention or crisis-response service. Website forms, email and booking tools are not continuously monitored.
If you or another person is in immediate danger, call 000. For crisis support in Australia, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14. You may also contact your doctor, local mental-health triage service or the emergency department of your nearest hospital.
Questions
If you are unsure whether hypnotherapy may be appropriate, book a free consultation or use the protected contact method on the Contact page. Do not include urgent or emergency requests in an online form.
